modern guilt

I got myself Beck's new album Modern Guilt. "Welcome to Beck's midlife spiritual crisis" is how Rolling Stones describes the album, which has ten tracks. Beck collaborated with Cat Power in two songs. My favorites are Gamma Ray, Youthless and Chemtrails. Listening to the songs transports me back to college -in the Devil's Haircut/Creep years- when I was in a perpetual state of induced euphoria. The songs, as in Beck's past albums, have a hallucinogenic beat. They delve on a psychedelic mix of subjects ranging from soul searching, contemplation of mortality, to social commentary on the environment.

Rating: 8/10 (I'll add a half-star if Beck decides to chop his hair)
